trials as an exercise
Part of my application for the sound design course was a free writing exercise, I think to see creativity and artistic facility on the spot (it had to be a newly written thing). 'Don't use words you don't know know the meaning of or how to spell' was the only guidance, well, ok, see what the admitting board makes of this then:
In the last few years of my life I've endured trials beyond the ken of the vast majority of people; tribulations scarcely imaginable that would have crushed those with lesser resolve and resilience to dust, mere motes of the human beings they were, disseminated in the ill wind constantly blowing forbidding and foreboding tides in their direction. But still I persisted. Through dogged determination and stubbornness, unwilling to give up, brute forcing my way through life without a fulcrum, because what is the alternative. Neuroscientist in a former life yet fate and circumstance have led me to my true calling as an artist, as it is through my synaesthetic relationship to language and especially sound that has allowed me to better feel and understand the ineffable.
